SAFETY is our FIRST PRIORITY!
We always address potential safety hazards before beginning work. We use all necessary protective gear and proper tools to get the job done right the FIRST TIME!
Below is an outline of what we have found to be the most effective and efficient order of operations in infrastructure preservation.
First Things First!
1.
3.
2.
4.
Brush & vegetation that has grown too close to infrastructure can pose a myriad of issues if left unkempt.
Vegetation brings moisture close to the home which can cause damage to the structures materials over time. Foundations and underground pipes can be restricted/damaged by roots and having trees too close to the building allows the influx of debris that clogs gutters and increases risk of damage during storms namely structural roof and window damage.
Brush and vegetation that is close to structures is a fuel source for fire and poses a very serious risk especially in high fire risk environments.
-
Eliminate Potential Fire Hazard
-
Reduce the risk of Storm Damage
-
Preserve Functionality of underground pipes & wires
-
Deter Rodents and other Pests before they become an issue
FIRE HAZARD & BRUSH MANAGEMENT
KEEPING MOISTURE IN CHECK
Most people don't realize is that even natural materials like DIRT, LEAVES & VEGETATION can pose a threat to the structure of a building and the foundation.
Moisture creates water damage and is destructive to wood, de-laminating and striping the oils from wooden building materials & siding eventually leading to dry rot. Mold can also become an issue when there is too much moisture close to a building. Rodents and other pests become more prominent when there are vegetative debris and excess dirt around.
-
Prevent Moisture Damage to the structure
-
Preserve the Water Resistance & Colorfastness of the Structures Paint Finnish
-
Deter Rodents and other Pests before they become an issue
-
Provide Adequate Ventilation & Accessibility Room for outside air ducts and electrical components
INVASIVE SPECIES
INVASIVE SPECIES CAN BE HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. Some invasive plants have thorns or are toxic to humans and can pose health and safety concerns. All invasive species have the potential to take over existing vegetation!
Overpopulation of an invasive species can strip the environment of essential nutrients and cause disruption of natural ecosystem processes thus deteriorating the ecosystem in an environment.
If a native species is threatened by an invasive species, the native species can become extinct. An estimated 42% of the species currently on the federal Endangered Species Act list are imperiled at some degree because of some harm caused by an invasive species. Not only are invasive plants often unsightly they can be dangerous to the longevity of your environments biodiversity.
-
Prevent the spread of noxious plants
-
Maintain Access to the property
-
Eliminate the Health & Safety risk of harmful plants on your property
-
Create Space for the cultivation of a more diverse ecosystem.
-
Increase property value & livability by removing the INVASIVE SPECIES before they take over completely
THE BEAUTY OF MULCHING
Without the use of Toxic herbicide there is a way to manage and reset an environment of weeds by sheet mulching. In picture ( A )you can see a large section of landscaping cloth covering a patch of yard. On top of the landscape fabric or weed cloth is decomposed granite, commonly known as DG, this dense sand like material is ideal for smothering the existing vegetation and over time creates a clean canvas of earth with which to begin again.
In picture (B) Red Wood Bark surrounds patches of DG that highlight the wanted native plants in this landscape. Red Wood Bark is a locally sourced red wood lumber industry byproduct and is absolutely ideal for covering unwanted vegetation. This mulch does not break down like other types of bark mulch. Red Wood Bark Mulch is also known for it's fire retardant qualities. The Decomposed Granite is being used in this picture to highlight native features that will be used to accent the landscape design.
A.
Sheet Mulching is a great ecologically savvy way to control and maintain a chemical free, organic landscape.

GREEN WASTE MANAGEMENT
Proper tools and protective clothing and gear allow one to level or cut the tree or bush into manageable size.
Logs & Stumps, Branches & Twigs and Leaves are sorted into piles. Wet Leaves can be gathered and dried on property for later use as mulch.
By separating green waste into three piles one can more efficiently manage, condense, recycle, haul and dispose of material.
Brush & Invasive Plant Removal is done is stages. This allows for the most effective removal and green waste management strategies.
Both the rural and urban environments pose their own challenges to green waste removal, however, some of these strategies overlap and can be applied to most any environment. Effective green waste management techniques are essential to keeping a safe accessible & hazard free environment.
-
Exercise Proper Invasive species disposal ( Disposal of Invasive Plants is Different than Normal Green Waste) (Thorny items like blackberry & noxious items like Poison Oak are kept apart from other compost materials so that they can be disposed of separately. )
-
Reduce the amount of green waste
-
Recycle or compost usable green waste
-
Save the Haul & Disposal Cost of Pounds and Pounds of Green waste!
What is a Hügelkultur?
A Hügelkultur is a horticultural technique where a mound or (Raised bed ) is created using a base of wood debris and other compostable plant materials.
-
Save the cost of hauling heavy stumps and wood debris
-
Enrich your soil with native materials
-
Create an ideal environment for planting
